Becoming a ShiftThinker™

Building Belief, Belonging, and Success Beyond Campus

"When belief shifts, everything else begins to move."
Dr. Kevin Snyder speaking to a college audience at Texarkana College

College is filled with transitions, pressures, workloads and uncertainties. When we begin to doubt ourselves, lose momentum, or question our direction, it's rarely a motivation problem. It's a belief problem. Whether we're navigating classes, careers, or the responsibility of supporting others, these challenges can quietly chip away at confidence and connection.

In this engaging, research-informed keynote, Dr. Kevin Snyder introduces his ShiftThinker™ framework — based on his doctoral research on self-efficacy and his personal journey overcoming adversity. Participants learn how to reframe obstacles, rebuild confidence, and move forward with clarity and resilience.

Because success — in college, careers, and life — isn't determined by what happens to us, but by how we respond. This keynote is tailored to resonate with student, faculty, or staff audiences, delivering practical strategies and meaningful impact for each group.

Key Audience Takeaways
  • Understand how belief systems influence motivation, wellbeing, and performance
  • Reframe challenges as opportunities for growth and forward momentum
  • Apply practical resilience strategies to strengthen confidence and success

Think Differently to Achieve New Success

Creating a Ripple Effect on Campus and Beyond

"We cannot solve new problems with old ways of thinking."
Students with hands raised during a Kevin Snyder keynote

Every campus is shaped by the people within it — not just by titles or roles, but by daily actions, attitudes, and interactions. Whether we are students, faculty, or staff, it's easy to become overwhelmed by pressure, change, or competing priorities and begin to disengage or underestimate the difference we can make.

In this high-energy keynote, Dr. Kevin Snyder challenges audiences to rethink leadership as influence in action. Drawing from his bestselling book Think Differently to Achieve Success and his Ripple-Minded Leadership™ framework, he shares practical strategies to strengthen ownership, communication, and influence — helping individuals contribute more intentionally to a positive campus culture.

Because leadership isn't about position — it's about how we show up and how we impact others. This keynote empowers participants to think differently about their impact, take greater ownership of their role, and create ripple effects that elevate both their own success and the success of those around them.

Key Audience Takeaways
  • Recognize how everyday behaviors influence campus culture and engagement
  • Apply practical strategies to strengthen accountability, communication, and collaboration
  • Identify ways to create positive ripple effects within their teams, classrooms, and communities

Few Talk, Many Affected™

Mental Health, Belonging, and Sexual Assault Prevention on Campus

"Stigmas exist because of silence. We cannot change the conversation without having one."
Faculty and staff audience enjoying a Kevin Snyder keynote

Kevin was 12 when he was diagnosed with depression and an eating disorder. At 16, he was arrested and carried the shame of those experiences into college, where he struggled to feel like he belonged and considered dropping out multiple times. Everything changed during a sophomore retreat when he opened up for the first time and discovered the healing power of vulnerability and connection. Determined to help others feel less alone, Kevin pursued a career in Student Affairs — only to experience another trauma when he was sexually assaulted early in his professional career, a secret he kept for nearly two decades.

Today, Kevin shares his story as a male survivor and mental health advocate, offering a perspective that is rarely heard but deeply needed. Blending lived experience with research and prevention strategies, he helps students, faculty, and staff understand how mental health, belonging, trauma, consent, and campus safety are interconnected. His compassionate approach creates space for honest conversation about stigma, resilience, and how communities can better support survivors.

While the topics are serious, the message is grounded in hope. Participants leave feeling less alone, more informed, and empowered to take action — whether supporting a friend, intervening in risky situations, or strengthening a culture of care on campus. This keynote encourages ongoing dialogue long after the program ends.

Key Audience Takeaways
  • Understand how mental health, belonging, trauma, and vulnerability intersect on campus
  • Learn practical ways to support survivors and recognize opportunities for bystander intervention
  • Identify actions that reduce stigma and help build a safer, more connected community

Proud & Purposeful™

The Fraternal Experience Reimagined

Dr. Kevin Snyder engaging an audience during a leadership keynote

Many fraternity men and sorority women never planned to join. Councils and Chapters often focus on "yes-joiners," yet it's frequently the hesitant "no" and "maybe" joiners who interestingly become the most engaged members once they discover the true value of fraternity life.

Dr. Kevin Snyder was one of them. He arrived at college with no intention of joining and quickly became a firm "no" after witnessing his roommate being hazed. A series of positive interactions later revealed a different reality — friendships, brotherhood, purpose, and community — leading him to join, become chapter president, Greek Man of the Year, and ultimately redirect his career into higher education and fraternity leadership.

In this powerful and reflective keynote, Kevin challenges members to reconnect with their "why" and embrace the full potential of their fraternal experience. Drawing from work on more than 400 campuses and years in fraternity and sorority life, he highlights how values-based leadership, accountability, and authentic connection strengthen chapters and reimagine what the fraternal experience can and should be.

Key Audience Takeaways
  • Reconnect with their purpose for membership and leadership
  • Identify ways to strengthen chapter culture through values-based action
  • Apply leadership strategies that foster pride, belonging, and long-term growth
